Sales Reporting

Synopsis of Challenge/Solution/Results


Challenge

Sales reporting to Ford Motorcraft from its Ford Authorized Distributors (FADs) was always conducted using a time-consuming, tedious, error prone manual process. FADs were required to submit multiple reports providing total sales figures for specific part lines sold to Ford dealerships and aftermarket customers. The reports were generated at the end of each month and transmitted to a third-party vendor, AMI, which handles reporting activities for Ford.

Solution

The automated Sales Reporting System project was designed by DST to replace these reports. Instead of providing only specific monthly totals, raw data on sales activity and inventory counts is pulled each day. Data for all participating FADs is aggregated and sent to Ford in a single file. Ford is then able to generate the previously specified report totals, plus any additional totals that are later defined, from the raw data.

Results
