IBM Platform

The platform for the DSTWare business system and warehouse management is the IBM iSeries (formerly the AS/400), a family of servers built for business. Designed as a database system from the ground up with integrated hardware, software and middleware (such as WebSphere), there are now over 750,000 systems installed worldwide. Compared to other servers or systems, iSeries servers typically have a lower cost of ownership along with greater reliability. It also hosts web sites and supports e-business transactions. DST's latest DSTWare offering is based on Websphere. For more information, visit the IBM site at: www.as400.ibm.com.

Microsoft Platform

The TurboPrise store system is based on Microsoft's Windows operating system. Multiple PC's in stores may be networked and then linked to a central host. That host might be a legacy server or an IBM iSeries (AS/400) with, optionally, the DSTWare.
